Summary:  The Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) Director is responsible for administration and management of all aspects of the Head Start and Early Head Start programs in accordance with state and federal regulations. The HS/EHS Director works closely with the executive director in providing leadership while aligning actions in support of agency mission. (See full Job Description for details.)

Education and Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a field relevant to administering a comprehensive early childhood program (e.g., public administration, human services management, etc.).
  • At least five years of experience as a leader, including experience working in a Head Start program.
  • Knowledge in principles of management, administration, human development, adult learning, functions of community agencies and systems.
  • Knowledge of financial management, including budget preparation, fiscal analysis, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to grants management and personnel management.
  • Understanding of principles, practices, and objectives of early childhood education and HS/EHS programs.
  • Experience with problem solving, group facilitation.
  • Ability to work well with others.
