ASSISTANT TEACHER - School Age Program

We are looking for motivated and caring individuals to work with school-age children in SUMMIT’s before- and after-school programs that are located in our local elementary schools. These positions would fit well as a full time or part-time job for retired school teachers, current student teachers or substitutes. Must have good communication skills and an interest in child development.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years’ experience working with young children.

Preferred Education: Child Development Credential (CDA) or 15 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services, plus one year of experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the head teacher with the daily functions and general planning for morning and afternoon programs and special events. Oversee the daily functions and supervision in absence of the head teacher. Be emotionally responsive and supportive of the individual development of each child. Supervise and interact with children in all activities. Promote positive communication with parents. Maintain health and safety standards of the program.

HOURS & SALARY: Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday – Friday, $14.00 – $14.27 per hour

Rate of Pay: based on education/experience
      High School diploma: $14.00-$14.27/hour
      Associate Degree or CDA: $14.56/hour
