TEACHER (School-age Program)
We are looking for motivated and caring individuals to work with school-age children in SUMMIT’s before- and after-school programs that are located in our local elementary schools. These positions would fit well as a full time or part-time job for retired school teachers, current student teachers or substitutes. Must have creativity in teaching, team management and supervision; also child behavior management which supports learning in a relaxed, calm classroom environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years’ experience working with young children.
Preferred Education: Associate degree or equivalent in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services, or a Child Development Credential (CDA) and 2 year’s work experience related to the care and development of young children, or a Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification in early childhood education, elementary education or human services plus one year of experience and supervision skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the overall functioning of each day’s activities and routines. Supervise assistant teachers, substitutes, volunteers, and student interns. Maintain health and safety standards in the classroom. Encourage ongoing parent-teacher communication. Provide a developmentally appropriate program, taking into account the child’s individual needs. Create a warm, caring, positive and accepting environment for children.
LOCATION: Selinsgrove, PA
HOURS & SALARY: Full-time, Monday – Friday, before and after school. $17.99-$19.70
Rate of Pay: based on education/experience
Associate Degree or CDA: $17.99/hour
Bachelor’s Degree: $19.70/hour
