At SUMMIT Early Learning, summer is more than just fun, it is meaningful, engaging, and designed to help children grow. Our 2026 summer theme, Camp Imagine, focuses on creativity, confidence, collaboration, and whole-child development.

Camp Imagine gives every child the opportunity to create, think, explore, lead, and express themselves through experiences that go beyond traditional activities. While STEM is part of the journey, Camp Imagine intentionally includes art, social-emotional learning, teamwork, leadership, communication, and play.

GROWN UP & BACK AT CAMP: meet the campers who are now on staff

Lexi O’Brien –

When I was in the before- and after-school program, some of my favorite moments were going outside to play, spending time with friends over different board games, and going into the gym after school to play dodgeball and kickball. Snack time was always something I looked forward to, especially the cheesy Chex Mix. At the time, I wasn’t able to have it at home, so being able to try new snacks and enjoy foods that weren’t common in my household made the program feel like a place I looked forward to every day.

One of the biggest influences during my time in after-school care was Glow. She taught me patience and helped me learn how to handle situations when someone upset me or didn’t do what I preferred. She also helped me with crafts, and I loved giving my finished projects to her to keep. Those moments made me feel supported, proud, and understood, and they helped shape the way I interact with others.

Now, coming back as part of the staff feels like a full-circle moment. The lessons I learned as a camper, such as patience, understanding, and kindness, are values I hope to pass on to the kids I work with today. This program played an important role in my growth, and I’m grateful for the chance to give back to a community that gave to me.

Quinn Standford –

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller

The quote above, from one of my favorite movies, sums up my experience with SUMMIT perfectly. No, not that I was a truant student who caused lots of stress for my teachers (at least I hope not), but that my life was tremendously influenced positively due to my enrollment at SUMMIT .

I was a student in SUMMIT since my infancy all the way up to 6th grade, and now I am lucky enough to be back to teach here. Whether it was the afterschool Dungeons and Dragons games, summer camp pool trips, or even when I was absolutely convinced my preschool classmate was in fact Peter Parker, Spider-Man himself, SUMMIT fostered a safe space for me to grow and become the person I am today!

Due to my involvement in SUMMIT, I was privileged to become a junior summer camp counselor; SUMMIT makerspace advocate, meeting with school administrators, working Snyder County Night Out, and recording radio advertisements for the opening of the makerspace; serve as first moderator for the SUMMIT inaugural advisory committee; meet with state legislators to promote afterschool and STEM advocacy at the capitol, and most notably, become a National Youth Leadership Institution (NYLI) and Afterschool Alliance ambassador representing SUMMIT on a national stage, paneling at town halls, and attending a summer conference to foster afterschool advocacy and meet with our national representatives to hear our stories as well! SUMMIT has opened the doors for me in so many ways and will continue to do so in my new chapter as a teacher here!

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank those teachers who made me who I am today and inspired me to become their coworker: Ms. Isabell, Mr. Ray, Ms. LeeAnn, Ms. Becky, and Mr. Josh. Because of their influence, I am happy to be at school for a secondary social studies education certification, while being fortunate enough to work with these wonderful people and children for my job!

Camp Imagine helps children build ideas and friendships, solve challenges together, and show their growth with pride.
