ASSISTANT TEACHERS

PRESCHOOL / HEAD START TEACHERS

Join our team of warm, caring, and dedicated staff. As a Preschool or Head Start Teacher, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a quality early childhood education program in compliance with all applicable regulations for enrolled children and families.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in early childhood education (ECE); or Associate degree in related field (child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services) with 30 ECE credits; prefer Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with 30 ECE credits. Must have the desire and ability to work with culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse populations, be able to work independently, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement educational activities by providing and maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3- and 4-year old children.

CENTER DIRECTOR

SUMMIT Early Learning Lewistown, a STAR 4 center, is seeking a Center Director. This position is perfect for a dynamic, energetic, experienced early childhood education (ECE) professional.

QUALIFICATIONS: The required minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree in early childhood education (ECE) or a related field, with at least 30 credits in ECE, 2 years’ experience in an early childhood setting, and at least one year of management/supervisory experience with ECE programs.  

Knowledge and skills in the following areas are also required: Early childhood development curricula; creativity in team management and supervision; effective supervision skills; effective time management; child behavior management which supports learning in a relaxed, calm classroom environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Center Director is responsible for creating and managing an attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for young children, incorporating developmentally appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children.

INFANT AND/OR TODDLER TEACHERS

Join our team of warm, caring, and dedicated staff. As a Teacher for infants and/or toddlers, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a quality early childhood education program in compliance with all applicable regulations for enrolled children.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirement is a CDA in infant/toddler, prefer associate degree or higher in early childhood education or related field plus two years’ experience working in an early childhood setting with infants/toddlers.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the room and maintain an atmosphere that promotes developmentally appropriate practices for the age group. Must enjoy working with this age group and providing a loving environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate degree (highly preferred) or its equivalent in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services; must have an interest in child development and a flexible personality, as well as enjoy variety in daily work routines. Must have the desire and ability to work with culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse populations, be able to work independently, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

BUS DRIVER

Transport groups of 20 or less children ages 3-5 years old to and from home and center on an air-conditioned school bus, working as a team with the Bus Monitor who also rides the bus and takes care of the children.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required plus proof of a safe driving record, proper insurance, and current Commercial Driver’s License with S endorsement. Must be a licensed driver for at least the past 5 years.

Manage the overall functioning of each day’s activities and routines; supervise assistant teachers and substitutes and create a general, developmentally appropriate classroom plan to meet group and individual needs.

MIFFLIN COUNTY, Salary range starts at $11.24 – 11.69/hour depending on experience; 200 days/year, 7 hours/day. Monday through Friday.
