EARLY HEAD START HOME VISITOR

CENTER DIRECTOR

SUMMIT Early Learning Lewistown, a STAR 4 center, is seeking a Center Director. This position is perfect for a dynamic, energetic, experienced early childhood education (ECE) professional.

QUALIFICATIONS: The required minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree in early childhood education (ECE) or a related field, with at least 30 credits in ECE, 2 years’ experience in an early childhood setting, and at least one year of management/supervisory experience with ECE programs.  

Knowledge and skills in the following areas are also required: Early childhood development curricula; creativity in team management and supervision; effective supervision skills; effective time management; child behavior management which supports learning in a relaxed, calm classroom environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Center Director is responsible for creating and managing an attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for young children, incorporating developmentally appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children.

EDUCATION SERVICES COORDINATOR

This is an excellent opportunity to be in a management position for an agency that provides high-quality early childhood education services in multiple counties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field, with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE; 5 years’ employment experience in early care and education including preschool teaching experience; 2+ years of supervisory experience including a background in program administration and operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and oversee the daily operations of the agency’s early childhood education services to guarantee high quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and guidance, including Head Start performance standards for child development and education services and OCDEL performance standards, certification, and STARS QRIS system. Coordinate community-based classrooms in collaboration with school districts and intermediate units; management of curriculum, classroom quality, staffing, and staff development of child care centers. This includes direct supervision of Center Directors and community-based Site Managers. Office based at agency headquarters in Mifflinburg, PA; must be willing to travel to site locations in Union, Snyder, and Mifflin counties as needed.

TODDLER TEACHER

RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively lead and teach groups of children in the CSD before- and after-school program, per agency and childcare regulations. Manage the overall functioning of each day’s activities and routines; supervise assistant teachers and substitutes and create a general, developmentally appropriate classroom plan to meet group and individual needs.

CSD (Centers for School Age Development) ASSISTANT TEACHERS

Do you enjoy working with school aged children, kindergarten through 6th grade? This is a great opportunity for part-time work, Monday through Friday. Morning and/or afternoon shifts available.

QUALIFICATIONS: Two years’ experience working with young children preferred. Experiences can include babysitting, vacation bible school, Sunday school, volunteering in a classroom setting.

BUS DRIVER

Transport groups of 20 or less children ages 3-5 years old to and from home and center on an air-conditioned school bus, working as a team with the Bus Monitor who also rides the bus and takes care of the children.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required plus proof of a safe driving record, proper insurance, and current Commercial Driver’s License with S endorsement. Must be a licensed driver for at least the past 5 years. 

LOCATION: MIFFLIN COUNTY 

HOURS & SALARY: 35 hours/week, 200 days/year. Monday – Friday.  $12.77 – $13.29/hour, depending on experience.

BUS MONITOR

Assist with a group of children ages 3-5 years old on a school bus. Making the bus ride an enjoyable learning time for the children; relay messages from parents to center and center to parents and help children on and off the bus. This entry-level position may lead to working in the classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of a high school diploma. Experience working with young children is preferred.

LOCATION: LEWISTOWN CHILDREN’S CENTER: 10 Bollinger Road, Lewistown, PA

HOURS & SALARY: Salary range starts at $12.50 – $13.01/hour depending on qualifications and experience;  Monday through Friday.

TRAVEL COOK

RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare meals in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations, in our spacious kitchen facilities.

HEALTH/NUTRITION ASSISTANT

Are you interested in children’s health and nutrition? We need you! The role of the health assistant is to assist the agency nurse, health coordinator and nutrition coordinator with health and nutrition services throughout all programs of SUMMIT. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a high school diploma is required. Excellent organization and computer skills is a must. Experience in health or early childhood setting and cooking experience is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with appointments and record keeping of children’s health and dental services. Assist with health screenings and follow-up screenings. Document and keep track of children’s physicals, dentals, immunizations and other health related information. Transport children and parents to health appointments when necessary in an agency vehicle. Assist with the nutrition component, including occasional subbing in the kitchen and possible food transportation as needed.
