TEACHER - HEAD START (school year)

If teaching young children is your love and passion, we need you! SUMMIT Early Learning is looking to hire a head start teacher working with preschool children. Our staff is comprised of loving, caring and committed individuals, joined together as a team. Our staff are dedicated to providing a high-quality learning experience for children and their families, implement the curriculum and daily plans and provide a safe environment for the children. Classroom teachers at SUMMIT Early Learning are supported by an experienced team that provides a positive environment that meets the needs of children socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of an associate’s degree in early childhood education or an associate’s in related field with 15 ECE credits. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Must have an interest in child development, a flexible personality and enjoy a variety in daily work routines. Must also have the ability to work with cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic diverse populations, work independently, plus have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

LOCATION:

HOURS & SALARY: Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday – Friday. (Based on the school-year calendar.) $15.47 to $17.42/hour, 200 days/year, 8 hours/day.

      Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or related field: $16.47 – $17.42/hour   

FAMILY SUPPORT ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in human services or related field or High school diploma / equivalent. Prefer experience working with families. Knowledge and skills required: ability to communicate effectively (oral and written), willingness to learn, including motivation and self-discipline to learn independently, office/computer skills. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate relationships among the home, parents, community agencies, and resources, and the staff in Head Start classes. Work with culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse populations, providing a planned program of experience and activities that support and enhance the parents’ role as the principal influence in their child’s education and development within the Head Start program.

LOCATION: Mifflinburg / Union County, PA

HOURS & SALARY: Full time position (260 days/year, Monday through Friday, 7 hours/day) $13.19 – $13.72/hour depending upon qualifications. 

HOME VISITOR - EARLY HEAD START

Provide home-based Early Head Start (free voluntary home visiting service for expectant and new parents) to families in Snyder and/or Union Counties. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: CDA (Child Development Associate) in home-based or infant/toddler. Must have the ability to work with culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse populations. Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field, plus two years’ experience in services with infants/toddlers and one year of experience working with families in a home-based setting. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver home-based Early Head Start services to families.

LOCATION: Mifflinburg, PA with travel throughout Union and/or Snyder Counties. 

HOURS & SALARY: Full-time (38.75 hours per week) Monday – Friday. $14.91 – $15.51 per hour, depending on qualifications. 

ASSISTANT TEACHERS - PRE-K COUNTS (year-round)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant teacher, supported by an experienced team, provides a positive environment that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of enrolled children.

EDUCATIONAL COACHES

SUMMIT Early Learning is seeking motivated and energetic individuals to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, and be trustworthy as well as a self-starter. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field and minimum of 2 years’ experience in early childhood. Preferred: At least 5 years’ experience in early childhood and experience in adult education and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Educational Coach, with a minimum of two years’ experience in early childhood and experience in adult learning, implements practice-based processes for supporting staff’s use of effective practices that lead to positive outcomes for children and families; must have a strong belief in the value of early childhood education and the ability to work well with others; must be willing to travel to all agency locations (Snyder, Union, Mifflin counties). Agency vehicle provided.

LOCATION: Both positions require travel to classroom locations; one is primarily located in Union/Snyder counties; the other position is in Mifflin County and western Snyder County.

HOURS & SALARY: Full-time position at 8 hours/day, Monday – Friday; $17.09 – $17.78/hour depending upon qualifications. 200 days/year plus minimal summer hours.

CENTER DIRECTOR

Summit Early Learning Lewistown, a STAR 4 center, is seeking a Center Director. This position is perfect for a dynamic, energetic, experienced professional in the field of early childhood education.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum qualification is an Associate degree in early childhood education or a related field, with a minimum of 30 credits in early childhood education (ECE); a minimum of 2 years of experience in an early childhood setting, and at least one year of management/supervisory experience in ECE programs. Also important to have knowledge of Early childhood development curricula; creativity in team management and supervision; effective supervision skills; effective time management; child behavior management which supports learning in a relaxed, calm classroom environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Center Director is responsible for creating and managing an attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for young children, incorporating developmentally appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children.
