WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CSD THIS YEAR

The SUMMIT CSD Program offers a variety of educational and recreational opportunities daily, including:

  • Indoor and Outdoor Recreational Playtime
  • Academic/Homework Support
  • Makerspace Activities
  • Healthy Breakfast & Snack
  • A Safe and Supervised Environment
  • A place for kids to be kids! 

In addition to daily activities, we will have monthly themes, which will be centered around:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Social Emotional Learning
  • Workforce Readiness Skills

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR

  • Wear sneakers.
  • Bring a water bottle & extra pair of clothes (label with child’s name).
  • Please put an ice pack in your lunchbox (full day).
  • Do not bring toys from home (unless it’s a special day)

NOTE: SUMMIT is not responsible for broken or stolen items.

RULES, EXPECTATIONS & SAFETY

Our goal is to help children make the most of their CSD experience.  To achieve this, we’ve established rules and expectations for all students:

Student Expectations & Responsibilities

  • Be responsible and respectful to yourself, others, and property.
  • Be accountable for your actions.
  • Be a team player by helping others, cleaning up, and having listening ears.
  • Have fun by having a good attitude, trying new activities, and working together!
  • Go directly to the CSD program after leaving your school classroom.
  • Enter the program quikly and be prepared to begin the afternoon.
  • Do not leave the CSD area (inside or outside) without permission from a CSD teacher.
  • Before leaving, remember homework and personal belongings.

Behavior Expectations and Consequences

Safety is our top priority. When a behavior issue arises, it will be documented and discussed with the studet, parent and staff. Consequences may include:

  • Activity Pauses: Being asked to sit out from one or more activities.
  • Permanent Suspension/Termination: Removal from the CSD Program.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

  • The CSD programs support and encourage the use of the Internet/Electronics as a means of enriching and enhancing learning.
  • School issued iPad, laptop or other educational devices are allowed for academic or homework support only.
  • The use by students of cellular telephones, or any other communication devices is prohibited during CSD program hours. Devices shall be turned off or made inoperable during the program hours.

Toys From Home

  • The program is well equipped with games and age-appropriate toys to keep children engaged, and to use their creativity, and keep their minds and bodies active to grow and develop.
  • We discourage toys from home in the program. Special “toys from home days” are at the discretion of the CSD teacher.
  • For the safety of all children, please make sure that no money, matches, candy, gum, or other foods are brought to the CSD. In addition, guns and other aggressive toys are never permitted,

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CSD EXPERIENCE

  • Notify CSD staff, SUMMIT Enrollment staff, and the school district if your child will not be attending on a regularly scheduled day.
  • Inform CSD promptly when you change address, job, phone number, pick-up information, or family situation.
  • Provide a copy of a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), special plans, goals, or written assessments completed by professionals.
  • Support CSD in seeking consistent aid support throughout the school day and afterschool.
  • Do not bring any firearms, incendiary devices, sharp objects, or unsafe material into the CSD program facility.
  • Park in the designated space or area when dropping off or picking up.
  • Respect and trust in our care for your child – ask questions, problem solve respectfully with the teachers.
  • Frequently check mailboxes for important information.
  • Read program information and ask questions as needed
  • Provide custody orders as needed.
  • Complete the Student Background Information sheet. These questions are designed to help staff provide the best care for your child.
  • Encourage Fun and Participation!
  • Support Rules and Expectations.
  • Ask Your Child About Their Day.

CSD STAFF

A team of head teachers and staff work to ensure fun and educational programs for all children! 

Head teachers have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree or School-age Certification. Assistant teachers have at least 2 years of experience working with school-age children and many have a degree in education.

 All staff are certified in pediatric First Aid.

Our management team handles all program staffing, training, and oversight of each of our location.

NOTIFYING US WHEN YOU'RE CHILD WILL BE ABSENT

Parents are required to notify the CSD program if their child is going to be absent from scheduled after-school care.

Parents must call the CSD phone to notify the staff of an absence. Calls to the school office are not transmitted to the CSD program.

DELAYS, EARLY DISMISSALS, SCHOOL CLOSED

SUMMIT offers CSD programming when school is on a delay, dismisses early, and on school closed days.

Refer to the Site Specific pages for important information about when and where CSD is held on these days.

PICK UP & DROP OFF

Individuals Authorized to Pick Up

No adult other than the parent will be allowed to pick up any child enrolled in any SUMMIT Early Learning Program without one of the following:

  • Authorized approval by parent on the Emergency Contact/Parental Consent Form
  • Parent’s verbal notification (in person or by phone)
  • Parent’s written permission

Anyone unknown to staff will be asked to identify him or herself verbally and with picture ID, such as a driver’s license.

Signing Your Child In & Out

The adult bringing the child to the CSD must accompany the child into the program and be certain that a staff member knows that the child has arrived.

We use the Procare app and electronic sign in and sign out.

COMMUNICATION: Staying Connected

We offer multiple ways for you to receive information and updates, and stay connected. If you have a preferred method of communication, please speak with your child’s teacher, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Class Dojo & Procare: Stay updated and connected through our online platforms/apps.

Text & Email: For quick updates and important information.

Student Mailboxes: Check your child’s mailbox at camp for notes and updates.

Phone Calls & In-person Conversations: Preferred for problem-solving and in-depth discussions.

After Hours: Our staff work long hours, often extending beyond regular shifts. To ensure they have time to relax and enjoy their families, we kindly ask:

  • Please do not contact staff after 5:30 PM via cell phones, texts, or direct messages on Class Dojo or Procare. If possible, please wait until the program opens the next day to reach out.
  • Additionally, Procare and Class Dojo messages will not be monitored after 5:30 PM on Fridays through the weekend.

MEALS & SNACKS

Students will be provided with breakfast (through the school district) and a light afternoon snack.

For full days, please pack a lunch for your child.

  • Avoid sending soda, energy drinks, and candy.
  • Include an ice pack with your child’s lunch.
  • Do not send anything that requires heating.
  • Write your child’s name on the lunch box/bag.

SUMMIT participates in the Child and Adult Care Food program (based on the American Dietary Guidelines) and follows their guidelines.

Menus are available for parents at each site.

HEALTH & MEDICAL SERVICES

We are committed to the health and safety of the children in our programs and will work with your family to provide high quality care. Our Health Team is available throughout camp and can answer questions as they arise.

SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen protects the skin from damage caused by harmful UVB and UVA rays, which can increase the risk for skin cancer.

The Parental Consent Form must be signed to give permission to apply sunscreen.

Sunscreen is provided by SUMMIT, but a parent may provide if it meets requirements: 

  • waterproof 
  • broad spectrum lotion 
  • SPF of 30 or above
    • Please label the sunscreen bottle with first/last name of child using a permanent marker. 

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION: days & hours

CONTRACTED DAYS/HOURS: This information is included in the Service & Tuition Agreement that you signed. Contact the Enrollment Specialist with any questions.

CHANGES TO CONTRACTED DAYS: Contact the Enrollment Specialist at least one week in advance of the day you would like the change to occur. This allows us time to determine availability. We cannot guarantee that your request will be accommodated due to staff scheduling and space availability.

ADJUSTING DROP-OFF OR PICK-UP TIMES: Contact the Enrollment Specialist at least 24 hours in advance of the change you are requesting. This allows us time to determine availability based on staff scheduling.
