ILLNESS POLICY & EXCLUSIONS
Children will be sent home on arrival or during the day for the following conditions:
Students may return to Camp when the conditions listed above no longer exist, after the start of appropriate antibiotic treatment, or when the child’s physician gives permission. SUMMIT Early Learning reserves the right to request a physician’s release as a condition for re-admitting a child.
If a child has surgery or an injury that prevents participating in program activities short term, we need a note from your doctor for return, including any restrictions or accommodations needed.
Lice: Please notify staff if lice is discovered and a medicated lice treatment is needed prior to return.
ACCIDENTS & INJURIES
For minor bruises, scrapes and cuts, staff will administer basic first aid (band aids, ice pack) and notify parents through a “boo-boo” note.
If it is a bump, scratch or bruise to the head or face, the parent is contacted.
Please keep emergency contact information up to date at all times!
In the case of a major accident, severe head injury or loss of consciousness, staff will call 911 immediately and notify parents.
CARE PLANS
Care Plans give instructions on how to care for a child with a specific health issue.
If your child has a medical condition such as asthma, seizure, food allergy or specific/serious health condition, please contact your agency nurse.
Additional paperwork may need completed by a health professional to have a plan of care and determine if an accommodation may be needed to attend the program.
MEDICATIONS
The best and safest place for medication administration is to be given at home prior or after the program day.
If medication is required during Summit care hours, medication forms will need to be completed and signed by a health professional, and by the parent to give permission for the medication administration.
The Administration of Medication Consent Form and Medication Administration Information for parents can be found here.
Non-prescription medication can only be administered if your child has a specific diagnosed medical condition and written instructions from your health provider.
Medication must be in the original pharmacy-labeled package.
If the medication is a narcotic-like controlled medication (such as ADHD medications), the parent will bring in a week’s worth of medication; the medication will be counted in the staff presence; both parent and staff will sign the Medication Log.
Medication paperwork is valid for one year after the date and new updated paperwork will need to be completed by a health provider.
Children may not carry their own medications.
